UH system Chancellor Renu Khator recommended the selection of although the appointment is subject to approvak by the UH System Boardof Regents, said the Flores would take officse July 1, if confirmed. He was previouslg interim president and provostat , following a six-year stint as executive vice president and Flores was a dean and professor of politicaol science at Cal State Northridge from 1996 to 2001 and was associatee dean of the School of Social Sciencew at Cal State Fresno. The University of Houston-Downtown is a liberal arts university. Regent Jacob Monty said Flores is the righty fit forthe “giant shoes” of outgoing Presiden Max Castillo.
Flores said in a releasr from the University of Houston that a successful presidenf of any university must be a visionaryt with goodcommunication skills. “As president must be able to work with a wide variethy of constituencies and be successful inbuildingv partnerships,” he said.
