Humana awarded the organizatiomn $100,000 to expand Building Ability, which teachese people with disabilities woodworking skills to make householdx andlawn products. The pendinvg expansion was celebrated todayg when Building Ability participants taught Humana representativea how to built corn hole which were the first products they learned to make in the Other products includeAdirondack chairs, porcbh swings and wine racks. The Greater Cincinnati Benefits grant from Humana will fund more than half of the remodeliny and expansion project for Building Easter Seals Work Resource Center is stillo raising the remainder of thefundx needed. Work on the expansion will begin withih the next30 days.
Once the expansion is completed, the programm will have more than 2,500 squarse feet of work space and will be able to accommodatd up to 18 participants duringeach shift. The grant also will provided state-of-the-art tools and support the use ofsustainablde materials. More than 70 percent of the waste produced durinhg demolition will be recycledor reused, according to a news Humana now is looking for the next recipient of the $100,000 Greater Cincinnati Benefits grant. The grangt will be made to one local nonprofity working to improvethe community’s health. Two other organizationss will receive $10,000 grants. Applications are at greatercincinnatibenefits.humana.
